(and how to get hold of stuff I did which is not here)
Copyrights are dull but important. Generally I will let you copy stuff
I hold copy rights over (as below, unless specified on the work
itself).
Some of the content here does not belong to me, for example anything
provided to me as part of Debian
GNU/Linux. Obviously this page doesn't apply there.
- Programs I write are, by default, owned by my employer. This is mostly
just an inconvenience since Dave is happy to sign my copyright back to
me on a per-project basis. The main effect is that my recent work is
less accessible than it otherwise might be. If I had my time again I
would refuse to sign to those terms, even though "they're very
common in this business". 8-(
-
Web pages I write are mine. (Either that or I could get my
employment contract declared null due to unfair terms? It's all
hypothetical anyway...)
You may
- copy them for search & retrieval, comparison or archiving
purposes[1], provided you make no
financial charge for doing so. In displaying the copy you may make
alterations provided they are obviously external to my work.
- copy them for your personal use provided they are either not
altered, or altered in such a way that another person will not
think they are my original work.
Drop me a line if you need something which is mentioned here but not
obviously available, for example the scripts I'm using to do the
gnomework.

[1] To be honest, my main reason for writing this stupid
page is for the benefit, or otherwise, of Alexa's archive and Google's cache. They're pretty
cool toys, let's hope they stay that way!
